Following my debut short film, “Little Things”, “We Will Rob You” is my second work as a director.

For this project, I collaborated with a Hong Kong illustrator, Smallook, as co-director. He primarily handled character design, story dialogue, and storyboarding, while I focused on animation, background design, and compositing.

Compared to producing an animated short independently, collaborating with someone else did not necessarily make the process easier. Instead, it introduced more layers of consideration, and when challenges arose, there were multiple perspectives to evaluate, which sometimes made the process more complex. However, the experience proved to be extremely valuable.

Beyond improving my technical skills, I also learned a great deal about collaboration. When facing disagreements in viewpoints, I found it necessary to let go of some of my own insistence and embrace another artistic style. The final outcome was something I had not anticipated, and perhaps this is one of the most meaningful aspects of working collaboratively.
